Benn was from the generation that assumed that Labour Party like unions meant Labour Movement and I don’t think this idea should just be dismissed. How ever awful Blair was in the world the NHS and services certainly improved and financial inequality slightly narrowed. There was specific and culminative improvement in Northern Ireland as well. The love affair with Bush was revolting and demonstrated crass ignorance of history but would have happened whoever was elected. Finally electing Labour is not having illusions.It is having improvements to fight around. Electorally the alternative is terrifying..!
