Paintings and Sculptures by Iain Mohr

This poem was written with a borrowed pencil at the meeting at Fire Station Arts Dunfermline on 30 March 2017 celebrating the intentiaon to create a Citizen Spire in Fife. This will be a centre to celebrate citizenship in the form of an enormous sculpture potentially planned to be to the left of the M90 on the derelict Cast Mining Site before reaching Kelty. Musicians, Citizen figures, artists and politicians shared a platform of creative and community intent.

This poem expresed the personal aspects of this transformation which must be internal to every individual if it is to envisage a more fair and creative society in which every citizen can be supported to participate, thrive, protest and effect change for a future that involves and inspires!  Imagination will prevail in our future visions…

IN THIS SPIRE

And so

I shall sit under the crow

Nodding to the unknown

Aficionados

Of deserted desire

Life left

In the middle lane

And a twist

Of new fortune

Listed

On the great exchange

Symbols

The nodding tops

Of working entities

Of lost reflection

And detection

And fire

cof

And I shall be

The Spire

Of citadel

Creativity

Of inspired lifting

Of created wisdom

Of reappraised religion

Of politics

In new motion

cof

cof

Dig deep

In the place

Of lost plotting

Grace gyrating

Into newness

And kinetic change

I shall

Rearrange every aspect

Of my changing Life

And every message

Offered

Bottled

Bled

And stoppered

And in the summit

Light

I shall ignite

A new story

Where there had been

Whispers

But no glory

And I shall

Lift myself

Into my very new place

In perfect

And serene

Grace!
